By youth, for youth

AIESEC is a community of young people, passionately driven by one cause: peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential.

OUR STORY

1948

The history of AIESEC began in 1948, 77 years ago, when AIESEC was founded.

AIESEC was established in 1948 after World War II, where seven youth across seven countries had a dream of building cross-cultural understanding across nations. They hoped to change the world, one person and one internship at a time.

1977

Spread across 6 continents

By 1977, AIESEC was present in 50 countries across six continents! To this date, over 40,000 young people around the world had participated in a leadership development experience.

1991

AIESEC was established in Lithuania.

AIESEC Lithuania closely collaborated with academic institutions, companies, and governmental organizations to expand its reach and impact. By creating opportunities for cultural exchange, it helped young Lithuanians gain global experience and attracted international interns to contribute to local projects.

2010

In that year – more than
10,000 experiences.

In 2010, AIESEC surpassed 10,000 experiences provided in a single year for the first time. To date, over 230,000 experiences have been facilitated by youth for youth.

2015

Implementing the SDGs

In 2015, AIESEC youth leaders from 126 countries and territories, in collaboration with the United Nations Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, gathered at the United Nations headquarters to promote and encourage youth participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AIESEC's relevance and contribution have never been clearer than before.

2025

Youth leadership movement

In summary, AIESEC is a global network of people who believe that youth leadership is not a choice, but our responsibility.
